I have a question regarding the 2009 Prius. Got our 2009 a week ago, and a friend said we really should get the OEM Rear Bumper protection from PriusChat (black Rubber). It fits on the rear bumper, but my new 2009 came standard with the clear-plastic like applique "protector" already on it. Did the 2008 and prior years have that? If ordered, would one take that off or put the black rubber Bumper Protection item on top of the clear shield? Thanks!
PaseoRed, The clear plastic applique came on my red ''08 too. It was part of a Convenience Package. The thick black plastic Protector is held on with 3M two sided sticky tape. You can put it on right over the other one. However, about 1-1/2 in. of the clear plastic with the little silver fake texture bars does stick out on each side. It is hardly noticable.
I do not have a protective cover on my rear bumper and have rubbed paint away sliding things in and out. This is definitely something I will have for my next Prius.
So why not add the black protector now? It'll cover up the scratches/rubs, look great, and protect going forward.
The scratches are not on the flat part but rather on the edge. Does the protector wrap over the edge? If that's the case I'll look into it.
Tony, It has a lip that covers the edge and downward a tiny bit: [imglink]http://priuschat.com/shop/images/PriusBP1.jpg[/imglink]
