The spring for the upper glove box, located in the upper right-hand corner inside, has gone kaflooey on my '04 during the last week. Then last night I saw where another poster mentioned the same problem in his. With this problem, you can't open the glove box door all the way, and the spring (I think it's a spring---haven't tried to take it apart yet) makes a loose, scratchy sound. Others?
The spring for the latch on the lower glove box broke and door would not latch. It was replaced during service at the dealer. The tech noticed the problem and not having a replacement spring he removed one from a rental Prius and fixed mine.
