Hello, my key fell out of my pocket and has been lost in the snow. Dealer wants $466 to replace it and program a new one. Also it'd cost $120 to tow the car there, so I'm looking to avoid paying $586. I'm fairly confident my car is Non-SKS (I couldn't just have the key and open the door to get in, and there's no black patch on the door handle). What I've found by googling is this: 1. Successful SKS Reset using Mangoose cable and used Keyfob registration | Page 2 | PriusChat ^this seems to be only for reprogramming an SKS key w/o an original, and 2. Finally! How to program a non-SKS key/fob. Detailed! | PriusChat ^This seems to be for reprogramming a non-sks key w/ the original. Unfortunately I don't fit into either of these groups. If someone had information to help me, it'd be greatly appreicated. -Thanks
welcome! i don't think they made non sks gen 3 (2010-15) be careful reading threads from gen 2, it is different. but idk if you can or not. try contacting some locksmiths, the better ones have a handle on these things. you have package four? should be 3 door sks i would think. there are small grooves on top of the door handle you touch to lock, and placing your fingers inside the handle unlocks. the rubber pad was gen 2 (2004-2009) all the best!
Whoops, I have the II, I filled that out wrong, so I maybe I do have the SKS system, in which case I can try that first poster's thing.
