China, again puts the U.S. to shame. They just made a deal to blanket 25 square miles in panels. Granted, that's a puny amount of energy per citizen, but still . . . The Associated Press: Chinese solar plant expected to be the biggest Sure ... the 30% tax credit is nice ... and state initiatives are nice ... but when's Obama going to make the Fed's do something like this?!? How many years has it been since we've had an energy project on the scale of Bolder Dam?
Yeah I read about it also. This article does not mention that First Solar has a large investor named Sam Walton, who has done OK retailing Ch-made goods in the US I am asserting no linkages! The walmart stores in China are doing OK also. I buy 'local' coffee there. Wouldn't shoplift there though (Chinese walmart joke; don't mind me).
I'd rather see CSP and PV. If only there were political will amongst the voters. That's where the real problem lies. No one want to pay for that sort of thing. End of. If 65% of the electorate were screaming for it, it'd be a done deal. Until something like that happens, expect incremental changes and baby steps. The good news is that, barring a complete economic collapse, coal is only getting more and more expensive... and the Chinese are a larege part of that.
