All, I have gone over the following Warp Stealth article. http://www.techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/cars/warpstealth.html Is the phrase "the third-generation Prius" in the executive summary referring to the Gen III (2010 and later) or the 2004-09? I ask because this was originally posted in 2006 at: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-fuel-economy/19222-warp-stealth.html Also there's a reference to ' second-gen "classic" Prius' toward the end which again I am not sure if it's referring to the 2000-2003 model or some other generation. Can someone please clarify? Also, is Warp Stealth supposed to be available in Gen III (2010)? Thanks.
"Third-generation" in that article does refer to the worldwide third generation, the 2003-2009 model (following the NHW10 1997-2001 Japan-only model, and the NHW11 2001-2003 model that can be seen in the US). You can tell because MG1 increased to 10,000 RPMs for the 2003-2009 XW20, and again to 13,000 RPMs for the 2010+ XW30.
It's time, once again, to review ALL the generations of the Prius (I hope I get this correct): 1997-2000: Generation 1 sold only in Japan 2001-2003: Generation 2 sold internationally 2004-2009: Generation 3 sold internationally 2010-present: Generation 4 sold internationally Because the VAST majority of Priuschat members are in the United States, the TRUE Gen1 model is an unknown entity. Therefore, the TRUE Gen2 is the Gen1 in most American minds. It's for this reason that sometimes people will use the actual model production numbers just to avoid having to clarify which generation they mean.
