I ordered the coastal auto door lock a while back. I started the insallation process, and got as far as using the wiretaps. This is where I lost my nerve. It seems to me that there is a fine line between penetrating the insulation, and severing the wire. I know that many people have installed this without problems. Any tips or words of encouragement would be appreciated. Do I need to bite the bullet and just do it.

I have installed 2 of the door locks, 2 of the power outlet kits, and one EV kit between Barb's and my Prii. No problem with any of those, no wires cut. I even used 2 left over taps from Coastal when I added the inflatable lumbar support bladder to my driver's seat. - Tom
I agree with Tom - Pretty much foolproof. The hardest part was getting my hands in the cramped space to attach them.
I agree. I've installed Coastal's Auto Lock and their EV kit, both require attaching to the same wire. No problems. I even used a pair of pliers to make sure it was clamped.
