I totaled my car last week and am shopping for a Prius (Prius newbie here). I have my rental for another two weeks.
Both my husband and I will be using the car. He has a F150, so he runs my car whenever he can. We want to buy used, 2012-2016 and would like to stay under 100,000 miles. We live in Minnesota and really want heated seats.
Do you like a plug in would be worth the $ for our situation? I might be able to plug in a work, my husband though would never stop and charge it, so more than likely it would only be charged overnight at home.

I work: 5 days a week, 40 miles round trip
Husband: 2 days a week, works all over the state.

Current vehicle: 2005 Toyota Corolla, 250,000 miles! -all mine-

Option #1: 2013 Prius, persona advanced
    Blizzard pearl, heated leather seats
    71,000 miles
    $12,500

    Option #2: 2014 Prius Plug-in, advanced
    Blizzard pearl, heated leather seats
    45,000 miles
    $17,500

    Thanks for your help!

welcome! plug in is great. charge whenever you can. when you can't, no biggie. if you do any local under 10-15 mile running around, it's a big plus. downside, no spare or under hatch floor storage. all the best!(y)

I traded my 2015 Prius Plug In for a Prime. It's on sale at Suburban Toyota Troy Michigan for $21,500.00 and it has 7050 miles on it

Sorry about your loss. Between the two cars you mentioned, if it were merely a matter of saving gas money, your break-even point could easily be 7 years or more. That would be if you were to save about $2.50 per day Mon-Fri for 50 weeks each year. But you also need to factor in the savings you might enjoy, like starting with lower miles on the Plug-in, and less wear and tear on the gas engine, better resale value and the enjoyment of silent electric operation, plus the good feeling of knowing that you will be leaving the smallest possible carbon footprint. Either way, you would be getting a good, safe car with plenty of features, including air bags everywhere, automatic braking and dynamic radar cruise control.
