I have mine on the dash, on one of the weighted attachables.. right in front of the little window on drivers side.. perfect placement but the cable is driving me nuts.. Do you with Garmins have the cable run permanently? Just curious as to how you do it, or a different place for it to sit.. I know i am keeping the car so having the cable permanently run makes sense but Trusting someone to do it?? Will have to get a lot of references... Best Buy does them locally i know but i am sure other places do as well.. Thanks
Best Buy likely has qualified people for what you need, but check/compare with the local custom car audio shops as well. You should have no problem. Just tell them exactly what you want and get it in writing.
Call your Toyota dealership and ask them who they use locally for stereo/alarm/remote start installs. If the dealership uses them- they're probably pretty decent. I wouldn't trust the 17yo blockheads at BB to install floor mats in my car!
Cindy, I haven't found a good location for mine. The beanbag slides all over the dash. Are you trying to route the cable with the traffic receiver? Judgeless, your stand looks like it may be top heavy & just tip over. How does it ride on the dash? Your spot is too low for me.
Jim. My beanbag doesn't slide at all. My Mazda dash was horrible for it but not this one. Maybe we have different ones?? Mine is pretty heavy My cord does have the fm transmitter
I use the Garmin suction cup and attach my Nuvi to the little window on the driver's side. I don't seem to have any satellite reception problems. Haven't removed the dash yet to hide the cable. Keith
Disassembling the Prius dash is pretty simple, and there's a fuse box almost directly below, on the left kick panel. Come to think of it, you might not need disassembly. You should be able to just remove the kick panel, then the rubber door gasket, run the cable up the gasket, then out to the top of the dash. It's raining now, but if you PM me, I'll snap some pics and post them to show you.
I have the Nav option on my Prius so no worries but on my other cars I just ran the power wire under my Dashmat & it was always hidden.
