h34r: Who would have thought, in Canada??? http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CAN...EMPLATE=DEFAULT
If you're talking about the one in Ontario, it isn't certain that it's a biker gang but some sort of organised crime.
Not to nitpick, Tideland, but biker gangs ARE organised crime. Edit: In this case, the Bandidos "cleaning house", according to the latest report at www.cbc.ca
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/americas/04/...s.ap/index.html "The gangland-style murders are the worst in the province of Ontario's history and the most grisly in Canada since spurned husband Mark Chahal went on a shooting rampage in Vernon, British Columbia, killing nine people, including his estranged wife and himself in 1996." Then you have Paul and Karla Homolka case... Wow, and they say the U.S. is bad!
"Then you have Paul and Karla Homolka case... Wow, and they say the U.S. is bad" They were watching too much US TV.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Mystery Squid @ Apr 10 2006, 03:02 PM) </div> What's this shit about "rabid biker gangs running amuck?" The gangland execution is so rare in Canada it quickly made major headlines. Ok rich boy, what are the stats for gang killings in the US?? Perhaps our resident law enforcement officer can chime in too. And how does that compare to typical large city American gang deaths? http://www.savannahnow.com/features/gangs/ http://www.dailynews.com/bridgetjohnson/ci_3275831 http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/ngic/violent_gangs.htm I blame the inept leadership of the former Liberal "soft on crime" government for this mess. We currently have a very tough Justice Minister Vic Toews: http://canada.justice.gc.ca/en/mag Vic is the MP from the Provencher district of Manitoba and is known as a strict Mennonite with "get tough" policies. One of his first initiatives is to scrap the failed Gun Registry and hire +4,000 more RCMP officers, plus lengthy mandatory sentences for gang crimes.
 Relax jayman... I knew that headline would attract you like moth to flame... It's what you get for calling me a "rich" ( ) boy all the time.... Sheesh, get one seriously old used car given to you at 16, and suddenly you're "rich"!
Squid, You really should not refer to our bike clubs as "Rabid" when they do so much good work........delivering teddy bears to little boys and girls. You have absolutely no proof that any of them have rabies. Think on the positive side of things for a change...... we have 8 fewer bikes on the road and possibly an additional five when the courts make a finding. Appreciate tho' that you are keeping up with the news of your neighbo(u)rs to the North. B)
I have to admit, Canada can't hold a candle to vicious crime in the U.S. They are trying real hard to catch up though. However, it is my opinion that Canada can't hold a candle to the US in per capita "giving" either. Two sides of the same coin. The "nicer" we get, the more "violent" we get.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Schmika @ Apr 11 2006, 07:55 PM) </div> Apparently not: http://www.statcan.ca/Daily/English/031001/d031001a.htm http://www.cfc-ccaf.gc.ca/pol-leg/res-eval...s/default_e.asp http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/glance/hmrt.htm Yes, Canada has a nice low rate, but it still makes me mad to hear about the rare biker gang mass killing too. Just because a homicide rate is *low* is no reason to stop trying to make it *lower.* As far as "giving" do you mean charity, or do you mean various government agencies and NGO's that funnel money overseas? An example here in Canada would be a "Crown Corporation" like EDC (Export Development Agency), BDC (Business Development Bank of Canada), or CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency). Don't get me started on Crown Corporations. That's how companies like Bombardier rake us over.
