Hey all. I saw a previous thread on this in the regular Prius forum, but not here. I just wanted to confirm what I need to make this a reality. I'm unwilling to drill holes in my wheel in order to install new hub caps so I want to install them on a trim piece first and then clip them in. I was looking at these plastic trims meant for the alloy wheels of a 2009 standard Prius on ebay, but I am unsure if they will fit a 2014 Prius C. I would then drill and attach these the screw on racer hubcaps from Mike's. If you can confirm my solution or tell me its unfeasible I would deeply appreciate it. Just bought this car in habarnero and I love it. Upgraded from a 2008 Yaris.
So no one knows if Prius and Prius C hubcaps are interchangeable? That's practically all I need to know.
Wheekl covers are based on the rim size. Any wheel cover for a 15 inch wheel is very much expected to fit any 15" wheel. If you are looking to install flush covers that will indeed reduce air flow restriction. If you are talking about Moon hub covers they won't do a thing. And smooth plastic wheel covers are easily available on ebay for about $40 a set of 4. They are held in by the rim so hles unnecessary. Some better than others. Paint some psyadelic design on them and drive others crazy. Yeah, I've actuaslly seen that on a VW bus. not fun to watch drive by.
As far as I can tell Prius hubcaps are different than all other cars. You can't just pick something 15" and expect it to fit. That's why I'm wondering if older Prius caps with work on a newer prius C. I'm not looking for any air flow benefits. I just like the way they look.
Some cars like older prius are wheel covers over an alloy wheel. those will ONLY fit THOSE wheels. Any non specific wheel covoer will fit any STEEL wheel with said diameter.
I tried these a while back: http://priuschat.com/photos/8171/standalone There is another picture in my albums under 'stub.' They fit the OEM steel wheels and are readily available on E-bay. They attach via a bunch of adjustable little steel tabs. I found the only trouble was having to remove them to check tire pressures (unless you want to rely entirely on the TPS system.) That and that they made noise as the wheel flexed and the little tabs made an annoying (to me) sound.
Thanks everyone for confirming what I just heard from two separate dealers. The Prius C will take any snap on 15" hubcap. I didn't know that other thread was dealing with alloy wheels. This opens up a number of opportunities. Now I'm considering these as well: Hollywood Flipper 15 inch
The 'flipper' hubcaps pictured in your link will not fit on modern steel wheels. You see that indentation? The raised portion of the steel wheels on our cars prevents the installation of this type of cover. OP, buy them at your own risk!!
Same ones I had. Mine were a little loose but snugged up by bending the tabs with a needle-nose. Hope you like them. You will get a lot of comments.
