Radio Extension Box - Non Navigation?

So my stock touch screen non navigation, non Entune radio in my 2013 Prius 2 is randomly rebooting to the Toyota splash screen. The dealer said the problem is the extension box and they ordered part number 86100-YY050 for me. Looking up information about that part, it seems that it's only for cars with Entune and navigation. Anybody know exactly what that part plays for my radio, and if it would have anything to do with the radio losing power and rebooting?
