Hello to one and all. I just purchased a used 2011 Prius with the basic factory radio. It is my understanding that upgrading the radio to the JBL version will give me Blue Tooth capability. Is this a simple swap out or is there more to it than just swapping radios? I did see a mention of an amplifier that goes under the passenger seat but couldn't find out if that is for Prius or Camry? My car currently has an add on Blue Tooth module from Con-Verse but I am not too happy with it functionality. My wife has a 2011 Camry with JBL radio and it works great. Also, will the radio buttons on the steering wheel work with the JBL or is that part of the upgrade. I am working with an I phone 6 if that matters.
With the 2010-2011 Prius II/Two system you would be better of with an after market radio than going with the factory JBL system which is completely different. Metra and PAC make adapters for the steering wheel control interface.
So there is more to swapping out the basic radio with a JBL unit is more involved than just R&R the head unit?
Correct. This link, plus the one I PM'ed you should help you with your quest. Also included my Album to see what is possible if you want to take it to the next level. Best wishes. 2010 Toyota Prius model II Head Unit Upgrade | PriusChat frodoz Stereo Upgrade | PriusChat
