My son has a gen 3 with 220k and it needs a new engine per the dealer. Barely driveable. $8500 quote to rebuild. DIL has a 2013 Prius v with 112k and I know has never had the EGR cleaning done. Since their 15+ year old is going to be learning to drive once lessons can start they want to keep one of these cars. Anyone know of a great Raleigh/Cary/Apex independent? The batteries are fine, it is the ICEs they need work on.
I would visit some of the shops with good google reviews like King Auto and even consider Craigslist guys. I notice there is a Craigslist mobile mechanic in the area that mentions hybrids and head gaskets. Some of the best guys I have found are small shops with low overhead but still have clear and specific experience.
