I usually drive with the fan off, but once in awhile I'll hit the UP button on the fan control to put it into the lowest speed setting. It seems like every time I do that the system comes on in some random configuration. I always set it to dash and floor vents, but when I turn it on it will be dash vents only, floor vents only, dash vents and defroster vents, etc. It's always some random setting every time I turn it on and it's making me crazy. Why doesn't it just start in the same configuration as when I turned it off? Also, what controls whether the A/C is activated? Sometimes when I bump the fan on the A/C button automatically comes on also. I'm trying to figure out a reliable way to just turn the vent on low without any temperature control.
In my experience, the vent control has stayed unchanged. However if you ever press the auto button, the vent setting will automatically change (if cooling, to face, if heating, to feet).
mine never changes, i never use auto. the thing that does change is inside/outside air. that changes while i'm driving, all my toyota's have done that. i leave the temp on low and the vent on windscreen/floor and hit the fan when i need defrost. if i change anything, i try to put it back before shutting down or i get all messed up.
