when we first got out prius way back in march, one of the first things my husband did was to put it on an alignment rack and make sure it was set right.

he noticed the left rear wheel was quite out of alignment. toe was off by almost half a degree. he asked around and did some background reading and learned the rear alignment wasn't adjustable, so we just puzzled over it for a while.

he recently noticed strange tire wear on that tire at 8.1k miles, so he took the car to work today. called tech assist about it, and they said they're authorizing shims for the rear wheels of the prius on a case-by-case basis if they're waaaay out of spec like ours. the right size shim seems to be the corolla shim, but it needs a little trimming down. apparently this is so new they haven't published anything about which shim to use and haven't made ones specifically for the prius.

it's going to be covered by warranty, just thought i'd share this.
