Have you cleaned the camera lens in a while? It's located under the license plate lip, left of center, in a black housing. Wet-clean it to prevent scratching the lens. Ha--you beat me, JC.
It's not as clear as looking through your phone camera. It's quite foggy compared to your phone resolution SM-N900P ?
The car wash might not get it. I'd get out there with a spray bottle/hose and a sponge/rag/paper towel. Inspect the lens afterwards...maybe it's badly scratched/hazed.
how long have you noticed the backup camera being foggy? did this just happen or you always felt it was foggy from day 1?
I bought the car in Oct.2013; it has been hazy since then. I thought it was just me but appears hazy no matter the light or weather.
You should compare it with another prius. Your expectations might be a bit high for this camera, it's very basic, not high resolution at all SM-N900P ?
If the image is dark there are settings on the MFD to alter the brightness and contrast, "while you are in reverse". John (Britprius)
Did you try going back and cleaning it with a rag or towel? That seems to help mine even when the car wash doesn't.
