Any recommendations on which brand / type of camera to buy during backup / reverse? Have already scratched my car once.
If I had to rely on my backup camera to avoid scratching my car, I would take the bus. The backup camera can't possibly take the place of the mirrors. It is nice to see if there is a trike or some other toy or pet close to your rear bumper, but the perspective is too strange to navigate with it as your main source of information, at least in my opinion.
Check out the website below: Gentex Auto-dimming Mirrors with Rear Camera Display from MITO Corporation Excellence in Electronics for Auto, Car, Truck, SUV, RV and Boats The #50-GENK3545A is almost identical to the one I have on my Canadian Premium Package, except mine doesn't have the compass. Joe166 is right. I use the mirror to assist, not to replace my visual check. However, I don't think adding it now is a good investment since the MSRP is $729 + installation.
