I asked my local garage if they could service the AC on my Prius appreciating that only ND-OIL 11 can be added to avoid damaging the system. The reply was that they had looked on the bottle they always use and it said "it was good for electric and Hybrid vehicles". Before risking it, I am wondering if it is normal practice these days for the oil to be universal?

Since they do not know, and had to look at the bottle(?), I don't think you should go
back to them. They obviously don't know what they are doing.

    Dealership is safest option.

You could use the oil safe for elec windings on the reg belt driven compressor no issues
