seller on ebay states that they send out abs units to be refurbished. heres a screenshot of the ebay convo. could this be BS or the real deal?
I guess if the eBay guarantee or whatever nonsense in force maybe. Seems highly unlikely but it should be able to be done other. Other similar a bit newer are 170 rebuilt . Like Corolla fenderwell mounted lotta lines .
It'd be fun for us if you or someone else bought one and did an in-depth investigation... Refurbishing these has yet to be proven, but there have been rumors of people trying. The more you can tell us about this operation the better.
A new ABS pump (accumulator) part from Toyota is not that much more directly from some online Toyota dealers than an unknown supposedly refurbished unit off eBay for $800.
Toyota official parts runs discount through their online parts system. Back in March they offered 25% off all month. Find a dealership that is connected to that online platform. I've seen new prices for $1200 before coupon.
Amayama's offering is over $2K CDN, shipping to-be-determined. Buy Genuine Toyota 4705047140 (47050-47140) Brake Booster Assy, W/master Cylinder for Toyota Prius. Prices, fast shipping - Amayama Just taking that part no and plugging into Toyota USA Parts website (the only practical way to use that site), I'm seeing $827 USD suggested retail: Autoparts Search results for '47050-47140' And nearest US dealership to me has it for $597 USD: Brake Master Cylinder Assembly with Fluid #47050-47140 | Autoparts.toyota.com Maybe the E-Bay seller is buying from them lol.
I posted about Toyota's 35% Memorial Day discount prior to the holiday. That was on top of normal dealer's online savings which vary by site and warrant careful shopping. Many online Toyota dealers have free shipping. Ebay sellers often say refurbished or rebuilt when all they have is used. Many may work if they were functional when the donor car was junked or parted out but even those won't last long compared to new oem. If they fail on install the seller will refund if you ship back but savvy sellers have a provision of no refund of shipping. So you end up paying shipping both ways and getting a % of your purchase back. Truly scam sellers will use this trick combined with a low item price and vastly inflated shipping costs. In those cases they still make a profit even if you return it. It's not an easy job to replace a Brake Booster. Buy new from Toyota and be sure to include your vin to ensure the right part. If waiting for shipping or diy is not possible, there are shops that buy oem parts at a discount from the local dealer and can often install and guarantee for your locally purchased parts cost alone.
The problem is you're showing a master cylinder, not the Gen 2 brake actuator assembly. The last time I looked, the actuator assembly was commonly available new from Toyo for 1100-1200 prior to any discounts Try using 44500-47141
This is regular online price On sale last week it was around $750. Which illustrates Toyota markups. They can sell for half retail and still make money.
I forgot to mention some discounts only show up in the cart during checkout. This one is $917 before tax
Totally missed out on your 35% off sale post. Was it confirmed 35% or the fine print "up to 35%" discount?
Generally 35% (or whatever) of the items a given dealer sells online. Most big holidays have a Toyota parts sale but they are not widely advertised to the public. Some send you emails when you have previously bought from them. Most don't. Sometimes I can find a local dealer who allows local pickup but they still order the items from the distributor rather than using their stock.
