In case y'all haven't been following the thread on Prius_Technical_Stuff, I presented a nice little benchtop experiment that shows why regen works way down to like 7 mph even if the ordinary voltage delivered by the MGs wouldn't be able to get anywhere near the battery voltage. http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/cars/boost-hack/ . And in a different context using the real MG1, we were able to get spikes well over 400V just by manually making/breaking a shorting lead across the windings while cranking it slowly. . _H*
