I just got a new Nokia phone with Bluetooth. Dragged out the trusty Prius Owners Manual, walked through the stpes, entered the key in my phone and . . . nothing. No "Bluetooth connection successful", no "Bluetooth connection failed" . . . Nothing. Am I missing a step or something?
D'oh! Never mind. Apaprently one has to (ahem) turn the bluetooth feature of his phone ON before it works. Whodathunkit? Anyhow, it's registered now. I just need to figure out how to actually USE it . . .
If you're lucky, your phone can send its' phone book to the car. It's a bit convoluted but the car can receive it and store it. Otherwise you have to enter it manually. Once you have the numbers -in- the car you can dial with the car. But you have to be stationary to dial and start a call. Once the call is dialed you can drive. Selecting a number to dial can be from the MFD or you can do it by voice, though I haven't been brave enough to try that. Leave the phone in your pocket or stick it on the dash. Answer the phone using the button on the steering wheel (an old fashioned dial phone off-hook). Hang up using the button beside that one (old fashioned dial phone hung up). If you selected "automatic connect" in the MFD menu the phone will connect to the car automatically when you turn the car on. Watch the top of the MFD for the message. The only gotcha is if you get out of the car with it on, and do not wander too far, your phone will ring in your pocket but you can not answer it except from in the car.
