I heard people are saying that , if I change my stock wheels/rims of a hybrid car, then I won't get the full benefit of hybrid system and it may cause hybrid system failure. the reason is the battery is charged by regenerative force produced by braking force. is it true ? or I can use aftermarket wheels on my car ? Aftermarket wheels and rims are ok to use on the C and they will not damage your hybrid system. You can find many pictures of Prius C's here on this site running aftermarket rims / wheels.
is it only for c or i can use aftermarket wheels to any other hybrid vehicle ? thanks for your reply. SM-G935F ?
Aftermarket rims / tires are ok on Toyota hybrids. I do not know about other hybrids. Unless your really want aftermarket rims / tires, I would save the money for a replacement hybrid battery. I may be wrong, but it seems many people have to replace it on the Prius C when the car is getting to be 5 or 6 years old and has 100-150,000 miles.
I think you've been hearing people with a weird sense of humor. There isn't any part of the regen braking system that depends especially on the wheels. As in any car, you may change your efficiency if you get different wheels with significantly different weight or dimensions. But really, the hybrid system can't tell what wheels you've got on the car. -Chap
