Quick question for those who have had broken antennas in car washes - was the car wash the "handsfree" type that blasts water at you, or the type that swats you with long pieces of cloth? It is really awkward for me (I am vertically challenged) to remove the antenna everytime I want to go through the carwash. I usually use the no touch type and was wondering if it would be safe to just leave it on. Thanks for any input Fernsmom
It depends if there's something in the car wash that runs over the top of the car. Usually there's a rotating brush that moves aft, then back forward. That could break the antenna. Then there's the drying equipment that rolls over the top of the car. A longer-term solution is to replace the factory antenna with the "shark fin" unit that's mentioned elsewhere on PriusChat. A drawback with the fin is reduced reception.
