Has anyone tried this, and if so with the passenger seat out does the rest of the airbag system work the same? Also is it necessary to undo the 12 volt battery to do this? Thanks
You will certainly be disconnecting the seat airbag squib to get the seat out, and any time you are going to be fussing with squibs, yes, disconnect the 12 volt battery first, and wait the time prescribed in the Repair Manual (more info) to make sure the firing circuits are disarmed before you start getting your body parts in there. With the passenger seat out, I suspect you will have an airbag warning light and trouble codes indicating that the passenger seat airbag is missing, and probably also codes indicating that the seat's occupant classification ECU can't be reached.
