My prius is 25 days old and my front bumper started coming out partially on one side, while I was backing -- there were few workers who parked their trucks allowing me a narrow leeway and were giving hand signals. Due to some miscommunication/distraction, I did not notice a tree which started scraping my front bumper. The front bumper started to open up partially on one side. I could put it back in place quite easily and the car is drivable. However, I think I would need to replace the bumper. Is there a good body work place near Bellevue, WA like Redmond or Seattle that is Toyota Certified? The only place I could find was Burien Toyota which is a certified collision center. Does the warranty become void if I go to any other collision center? The dealer I bought the car from doesn't do body work.
Had a similar thing happen to my front bumper - someone somehow clipped it, and peeled it back. Cost is $700++ to replace (bumper paint, labor). FYI - this is a simple job, and you don't need a Prius surgeon. I ended up duct taping things together, then took it to a local bod shop. They charged me $50 to make it look and feel good as new (except a paint chip - which I still need to fill) - easy cheap and quick (took them 15 minutes - and the bumper was even pulled away in the engine compartment).
I had good results from Precision Collision Auto Body on 13419 Northup Way, here in Bellevue. That was 5 years ago on a Passat, but the work was excellent. Fortunately, I have not had to use their services again.
