My 2012 Prius C Two makes a clunking sound when I brake. I took it to the mechanic and they said that the wheel bearing/hub assembly needed to be replaced. I wanted to try and do this repair myself, but I can't find many resources.

There are a bunch of videos for how to do it with just Priuses, but not really any for the Prius C. Also, I can't really seem to find any wheel hub and bearing assemblies--only kits including both the bearing and the wheel hub. So this means I need to use a bearing press right? I'm just not exactly sure how to do this repair. Any tips, guides, or resources?

    Thanks!

I haven't done a front bearing on ours yet, can't give you anything firsthand. From what I've seen they aren't that different from most other FWD cars.

Here's the boilerplate "more help" link including a link to the factory Repair Manual.

I have had to change a rear bearing in our car, and if there's a lesson to pass on? Get your replacement part at Toyota. They cost more, but there are lots of bad counterfeits out there, not worth the effort to install.

It looks like Toyota'll sell you a whole assembled knuckle, hub, bearing, backing plate, sensor assembly for not a lot of dough when you consider taking the knuckle off anyway and having to do press work on it.

43502-52030 Genuine Toyota Front Axle Hub Sub-Assembly, Left

Edit: DANGER WILL ROBINSON: looking further, I'm not fully convinced that part number is the whole assembly that photo shows. It would sure be nice to believe the photo. But I'm also seeing other sources saying that part number is only the hub itself (preassembled with wheel studs), and that the part number is the same right and left (which it couldn't be if it were a full assembly with knuckle).

I did think the price looked awfully good for everything the photo showed.... :(
