Hello, I have obtained a new fender liner for my 2012 Prius plug in. Does anyone know if I can replace it without having to jack the car up and take the wheel off? Thanks so much!
You definitely need the wheel off. Also, there’s one fastener near the back/middle, has a plastic embed in wheel well, almost impossible to remove without destroying.
There are a lot of push-in plastic fasteners around the wheel well interior IIRC. Not sure half off them would be reachable with wheel installed, or even if they are, why not make it easier?
Yes, it is doable - but your turning a 5 minute job into a half hour or an hour job. I'm also assuming that your smart enough to rotate the steering wheel all the way in one direction to work on the front liner fasteners, then turn the wheel all the way in the opposite direction, to get to the rear fasteners. Anyone attempting this, should get an extra screw and a couple of push-in fasteners. In case a few break-off during extraction. The older the car, the more brittle the plastic becomes. Just my 2 cents..
Plus the aftermarket liners are flimsy and the fit is marginal. But better than a torn up liner. You probably don't have notifications set. They are off by default on this site.
