Hi All, Welp, I have been seeing very old VW's around here allot. Beetles, Bus's, and just this morning a Kaman Ghia convertible! But YIKES, are these things smelly. Maybe these old carboratuers in them have sunken floats like late 70's GM cars ? Whats up ? With that much raw gas going out the tailpipe they cannot be doing even 20 mpg.
Ah yes, a return to air cooled, non-emission vehicles. Air cooled engines have to run "rich" on purpose, otherwise they overheat and the valves can get burned As far as the original Beetle, apparently the original 1200 cc motor could get 25-30 mpg under ideal conditions
