My 2009 Prius died after having not been driven for a week or so. This was an almost brand new battery. All attempts to charge it have resulted in a "reverse polarity" indication even though the polarity is correct. Must be a shorted battery, but seems weird for a new battery... any advice?
If you plug up the charger to another battery and correctly connect the leads red to plus black to minus and so on does the charger fail on that battery if yes maybe the charger.
Use a digital multimeter to measure the actual voltage at the battery terminals. Have you used this charger before? Does it work correctly on another battery? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Someone goofing around and swapped the red/black plastic sleeves on the charger clamps? Similar to post #5, except turn on the charger and measure the voltage on the charger. Red to Red and Black to Black and the voltage should be a (+) value. If it's negative, then the sleeves are probably reversed.
