Since this review is from a tech blogger he has a slightly different viewpoint then the myriad of "car guys" that have reviewed it. Seems like he is pretty fair overall. Guessing he has a lead foot though.
He is getting 18 miles on a charge, and it did not look from the video that he was doing primarily urban or hilly drives, suggesting that he is of the "floor the accelerator, slam on the brakes" school.
I did, when I took my trip out west. But mine was about 14 miles EV after charging up at the motel overnight then zipping on the freeway at 76 MPH
My understanding is that mileage is an estimate, based on your past driving experience. So if I do a lot of freeway driving at 70+ mph, the next time I drive the car it might estimate that I will get 22 miles even though the next trip is averaging 40 mph on country roads. Since he was given the car to drive, we don't know how it was used prior to his use of it. What I don't know is how long it takes the estimated mileage algorithm to get used to calm, gentle driving before it starts estimating 30 miles again.
Yup, when I took my trip out west my EV went down to about 22 miles then gradually went back up to 37.2 miles EV. I posted my almost daily increase in EV range here........ Any one else getting more than 30 per charge? | PriusChat
