And I used to work for them (QNX) a bit, more than a decade ago. They had aspirations towards mainstream desktop operating system development. But they later decided to stay focused on their main business of embedded and industrial systems and not loosing the money for a fight against Microsoft, Linux and other guys. RIM will get a good operating system foundation from those folks. LTE Connected Car is just a nice eye catching thing.
