Driving Subarus for years surely got me addicted to body cladding. I just bought a 2011 Prius (classic silver) and am wondering about having the rocker panels painted black. My other car is a Volvo XC Cross country....so the addiction continues. Has repainting the rocker panels crossed anyone's mind, or have any of you done this to your car?
I agree. We added OEM optional side cladding to our Gen II CR-V... acts more as parking-door-protection than stone/mud protection for the rocker panels. I guess most folks don't think of our Pu-ri-u-su (I'm working on that Japanese pronunciation as a Subie Outback or wannabe SUV... which probably explains why The Wife doesn't want to let go of the CR-V. The forthcoming v may be a different story, however....
I painted the inside, wheel-well edges with that bed-liner stuff. I didn't have the nerve to sand/roughen up the surface so some of it is peeling off. The thing is, it is plastic and if in the future it get so dinged up, you can replace them fairly cheaply. The mug guards should protect the bumper skins fairly well.
even though i have a red prius. i photochopped a members white prius with two version of the black rocker panels. it's an optical trick manufacturers use to make the car look sleeker and less "slab sided". they should do this to the prius. ***remember it's a photochop**** i didn't do it to my car! you may want to use a matte black vinyl instead of painting
Many thanks....looks terrific. I am going ahead next week with the plan to do mine. Will get a photo when I'm done. yrs, delp
