One of the recent articles in a popular U.S. car magazine publication stated in their stats that the RPM at 60 MPH in the Prius C was 2,500, which to me is high. On our Prius I am pretty sure that on level ground the RPM at 60 MPH is probably under 2,000 RPM. If someone has a scan guage they can check to verify if at 60 MPH the Priuc C is turning 2,500 RPM. If it is that may explain why it only obtains 46 MPG on the highway per E.P.A., while the regular Prius is 48 E.P.A. highway.
With the electric CVT transmission in the Hybrid drive there is no fixed RPM at a specific speed like a typical car.
