Found this online for a center brace for a Prius C. Made by Rude person's? Anyone know if this is still legit?
Lol, rude person... I've got an early version of the mid chassis brace from this individual on our Gen 3 that has been there for over 5 years with no problems, other than scraping on some weird high angle transitions in some parking garages. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I bought Mike's brace in 2013 and haven't had issues with it since. It made a minor difference to the feel of the car, but it went well with the rear sway bar.
Does anyone have a link to his products or contact info for him? The one purpose of the forum is to locate good aftermarket parts, and Mike got banned, how poetic.
I found an ad from the same site selling a Prius Gen III under brace as well. In the write up he cites that he was banned from the forum because of complaints from other vendors.
I tracked him down on eBay! (no I'm not stalking him). But unfortunately he no longer makes custom center braces for Prii. He found the costs for materials would raise the prices too much.
Firming Up That Mid Section – Most Designs I picked up the Cusco piece from Amazon Japan for around $70. I have zero experience with the one you were talking about to compare, but I've been happy with improvement made by the Cusco piece. Happy enough in fact to order the other braces they offer for the C. Although I had to source those through a US distributor since they were too large for Amazon Japan to ship in.
I think he was saying it could be fabricated, not installed as a DIY project. At least that's the way I read it. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Yeah.. probably. I didn't say that mine would work... just said it was easy. Two bolts is still a DIY project.
Absolutely could be done pretty easily depending on your fabrication skills. I had thought about doing one to mimic the bracing on the Aqua G Sport has. The brace under that has two additional bars running to the rear. I don't see any easy to find images on google, I'll see if I can snap a couple of the Aqua dealer brochure at some point.
The 3 pieces that make up number 2 is what I'm talking about. They can be ordered from Toyota Japan, but I haven't found a cheap/easy way to import them. I've thought about building my own, but I really do try to leave the C as the car that doesn't get the big projects.
