First time poster here though I've lurked around a few times. Here's the deal: I have a 2010 Prius (V) with 67000 miles on it. I average around 2500 miles per month. I purchased the extended maintenance plan that will be ending soon. My warranty is good for about 33K more miles and the only problems I've really had with the vehicle is a hub replacement on the rear passenger wheel. The question I have is: what is the long-term vehicle maintenance like on the Prius? Given that I'll continue putting a ton of miles on the vehicle each month, what are the long-term (100K + miles) maintenance milestones (i.e. brake replacement, etc.) and what can I do myself?
Very few repairs if the 299,999+ club is any indication. You do not need extended warranty with Toyota and Lexus.
What can you do yourself I guess depends on your DIY skills... I didn't buy the extended warranty. I only expect the wheel hubs to start going bad around 150k miles or so (seems to happen to a lot of 2nd gen P), maybe radiator around 200k, and the usual wear and tear (brakes, tires, wipers, standard battery after 4 years). And hopefully the main battery will last me at least 200k, if i reach that...and then probably pick up a salvage one or get an aftermarket one, though there seems to be lots of great stories surpassing the 200k with no issues. Two redondo beach posts in a row, what are the chances...
