A few of us Sacramento/NorthBay people are trying to set up a meeting this Sunday Dec 18th in the late morning or lunch time. TheCritic will be in the area and as promised I am trying to get a few of us together to meet and talk about all things Prii. If you're in the area and would like to hang out for a couple of hours on Sunday let me know. I'll post up a time and place for the meet as soon as I figure it out. Justin
So far we have XS650, Ammobob, Cycledrum and possibly dogfriend. I need to email darreldd still. Because Cycldrum is coming up from the Bay I was wondering if we could meet halfway say Davis or something? I don't mind driving wherever so please don't think I am choosing Davis because it is so close to me (Woodland). It just seems like a halfway point and has good places to eat. Justin
Great, Davis works for me. Thanks for putting this together. I am headed out the door for an alignment to get ready for tomorrow. MB860 ?
Sounds good, Mike. Just don't expect all of us to show up with clean cars. It rained the other day and most of us are too lazy to clean up. Hell I'm still running my winter 15" wheels. lol
It was pretty darn cool meeting you guys. Thanks for coming out! Ohh, I'll let Mike tell you how our driving test went. He did well though.
F8L, glad to be able to meet you and the others today. Thanks for putting the event together. Guys, I did not kill F8L during the test drive. He taught me how to glide on my car...which I am quite ashamed to say, is something that I had previously confused with something else. I put the newfound knowledge to use on the drive back down to Monterey and achieved 50-52. Cruising at the posted 65mph speed limit and using the P&G technique on any downhill stretch resulted in noticeable improvements. On a side note, F8L drove my car and was able to achieve 56.3, so I am glad to report that there was indeed nothing wrong with my car; all of the issues were with the driver.
I have to give Mike some credit. He acheived 50mpg on our test drive which included 2 freeway entries with only 2 miles between the onramp and offramp and some residential driving with lots of speed bumps. He did well despite not knowing how to glide. I will say that the Geniii is definitely trickier to hypermile in. I couldn't tell when the engine was off or where the powerflow was directed and without my scangauge I was rather lost.
