I bought a Prius Package II, Blizzard Pearl/Bisque, from the Manhattan Beach California dealer about a week ago, 7/25/09. I had a referral to another dealer through the AAA fleet buying service, and to a third dealer from the Toyota main web site. However, the Manhattan Beach dealer had the best pricing. I heard about Manhattan Beach from this priuschat site. Dianne Whitmire from the sales department and Sammy Choe from the finance department were most helpful. I took advantage of the C.A.R.S. credit (cash for clunkers), and there were no problems. I spent about 2 hours at the dealer, which was not unreasonable, since I was able to complete the transaction in one trip. There is a large Target store next door to the dealer, and they have a Starbucks inside, so you can stop for coffee if you get there a little early. Dianne demonstrated all the features and details before I drove off. The other dealers I talked to were much closer geographically, but the drive was worth it. The other dealers focused on trying to sell me what they wanted to sell, rather than what I wanted to buy. For example, although I filled in exactly what I wanted on the Toyota web site (package, color, etc.), the dealer who got that referral pretty much ignored everything I submitted. Dianne did communicate by e-mail, and the other dealers seemed to want to do most of their business by phone. Dianne asked me to submit something to this site, and I am happy to do so. I thnk it is a good idea to encourage this behavior. R Wick 8/2/09
Thanks so much for posting this information. Based on what I've read on this forum, I definitely plan to go to Dianne when I decide to upgrade. For now, I'm happy with my 2001. ;-)
Thank you Randall! Thank you Randall! I hope you'll post here more. A pleasure to meet you! This is the best place to learn more about your car and improving hybrid driving experiences! PS: you still have THE best clunker I've seen yet!
