I have had my SGII for about a year now and have really enjoyed using it despite a couple of issues that LinearLogic has yet to resolve. A couple of weeks ago I glanced at the screen and it was off. I fiddled with the connector and ended up unplugging the OBD connector and reconnecting. It booted back up and has worked fine until this morning and the screen went off again. Unplugged the OBD connector and it rebooted again. Anyone else having this problem?
By the way, the ICE was running as I was driving 60 mph both times so that eliminates a setup issue. It is setup correctly for a hybrid vehicle and shuts off on loss of comms. Also the OBD connector was not loose at all.
No problems here, and I am 4.05. The setup was the only thing I could think of. Perhaps something internal went bad. Bet they would fix it for free....
I also have the 4.05 and sent an email to Linear-Logic customer support. I will say they are very good about responding promptly. The response was the typical things to look for including proper setup for hybrid vehicle and sleep mode being loss of comms. I have already checked these. She also suggested looking at all XGauges to make sure one was not corrupted which would cause the unit to shut down. I checked all 25 of these this morning and no corrupted gauges. They all display properly. So I will be responding that all checks are OK and see what they have additional to say. I did ask about a fix for the corrupted XGauges when changing configuration and she said they have not been able to resolve this problem
After checking on all of the XGauges and verifying that all were working properly and not corrupted I asked Christina for additional suggestions to check, what the latest rev was and if the corrupting problem had been fixed in the latest rev. Additional suggestion was to check the update rate and if it was on Fast to select a slower rate. I have not done this since I have had it on Fast for over a year now with no issues. Christina indicated that the latest rev was 4.06 and the corruption issue has not been resolved. They have a Gen II for testing and have not been able to duplicate the problem. This I do not understand since I can duplicate the corruption at will by modifying more than one XGauge at a time. I have passed this info to her in a step-by-step process that I use for modifying XGauges. For info - I have not had another turn off issue to date since the second one a couple of weeks ago.
Whenever I modify more than one XGauge at a time I will get wonky characters and the XGauge list will be limited to just a few. The fix is to do a Default Reset. The only downside to this is that I lose all of my trip data and have to re-enter all of the Setup data. Several others on here with the 4.05 rev have reported the same issue. Evidently you have not seen this issue? Cwerdna and I have both reported this to Linear-Logic with full details. I am sure others have also. Linear-Logic says that they have a Gen II to experiment with but have not been able to duplicate the issue and have not resolved this issue even in the latest 4.06 rev. They say the only ones reporting this issue are those using CAN-bus like Toyota.
Just a quick update. I unplugged my SGII for about an hour a couple of weekends ago for a vehicle inspection so the inspector could plug in his OBD reader. After the inspection I plugged the SGII back in. I have not had another issue with the SGII turning off since I unplugged and replugged the unit. The connector was plugged in firmly when I unplugged it. So it was not like the connector was loose.
Hey JD, Perhaps some dirt/lint was shorting out a couple of contacts? I think I will vacuum mine out next time I am down there. Sorry I didn't see the second to the last post. I haven't had any problems with mine.
