I scared myself yesterday.... I looked over at the warning area and there it was... RED TRIANGLE WITH THE EXCLAMATION POINT!!!! Ahhhh... What was this???? Then I read the display. It was warning me because I had the door opened and I wasn't in park. I wasn't going anywhere, I had stopped at my sister-in-laws and I opened the door so her German Shepard wouldn't jump on the car to greet me.. I opened the door so I could give him a scratch.. My heart returned to normal.......
The warning I get for an open door (don't know if it's the same in the '06) is something to the extent of: "The battery will not recharge when the transmission is in [N]". That has got to be one of the worse translations of "door ajar" I've ever read.
