Is there an online resource of exploded views of various parts of the car? Including part names and OEM part numbers?
toyodiy.com will provide part numbering. That website no longer provides exploded parts diagrams. Apparently that violated Toyota's intellectual property rights. You can also look at the online parts catalogs of any of the Toyota dealers that sell parts over the web, for example, AutoNation Toyota Gulf Freeway in Houston, TX. That will provide you prices, exploded parts diagrams and part names but will not provide part numbering.
Gee! That's a bummer. The diagrams are very common in motorcycle world, widely available on a magnitude of websites, bikebandit and partzilla just to name a couple of US based ones.
A lot of these dealers share a web parts database service provided by partswebsite.com (you can tell while the dealers plug in their own discount pricing, the catalog interface is otherwise the same). That catalog doesn't provide part numbering. Two online dealerships that I know of, Metro Toyota and Village Toyota use different parts catalog systems (maybe they rolled their own, I don't know), and theirs do include part numbers. I don't always find them the very lowest in price among the online dealers, but I'm willing to send them my business because they're providing a more valuable service. Metro Toyota has gone extra lengths to cater to Toyota hybrid owners since very early days, putting up a separate web site just for hybrid-specific accessories. I bought from them when I added cruise control to my Gen 1, as they offer the kit including new steering wheel and all required parts for one good price. -Chap
