Can someone recommend a compound that will remove scratches from my Prius Plug In windshield. It was scratched by metal ice scraper after one of our winter storms. Scratches aren't deep, but spit doesn't hide them. Thanks,
Where did the spit idea come from? The glass is very clear and all scratches tend to be annoying. I don't think any compound will be able to make it clear and nice again. It may cover up the scratches by adding a layer of clear resin on top, but it still be evident if you look at it. Replacement seems to be the only option if you can't stand looking at the scratch....or if the scratch impairs your vision (reflects light into your eyes), it would need to be replaced.
I bought a high end glass coffee table that had a scratch on it. Looked all over the web for any type of solution to fix the scratch. Some places recommended toothpaste as a polish and I tried this - no luck. I think you're stuck with that scratch. Makes you second guess how strong glass is eh? I guess the material is actually quite soft.
Glass is moderately hard, at 6-7 on the Mohs scale - but hardened steel is 7.5-8, so the scraper will always win. Mohs scale of mineral hardness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
