Date Ordered: 3/8/04 (beat the rumored price increase date) Dealer Ordered From (Incl. City/State): Longview, TX Timeframe given for delivery: 4 mo Color: Seaside Pearl (Blue) Option Package: #6 Your # on Dealer's Waiting List: #3 !!!! after he just got 2 cars in March I live in the Dallas area, but I didn't want to be on a double digit long list so I called around and found a short list in Longview.
They had a white #3 on the day I first called which I passed to a friend. I'm up to #2 on the list (behind a guy who only wants a fully loaded car). Got a call yesterday offering a Silver #7 that arrives in mid May. Passed on it too. It's good to be at the top of the list and get the offer. I made someone farther down the list happy yesterday. Were there any add-ons (Gulf States Toyota Package, etc) to the price of the car? Did you have the price/order in writing? Thanks--we've been waiting since 11-03 in Houston, TX for Seaside 2.
I have another post where I debated taking the car. I tried everything to get the *#$# gulf states port package stopped, but had no success. I have the price in writing. It's MSRP for a #3. The port package adds a whopping $930 to the deal. The reasons I decided to take it were: 1. I got my order in before 3/10/04 so if I get an 04 model I get $300 back from Toyota. 2. I found a buyer for my existing car and will do a private sale and garner a good price for it. 3. There could be a price increase in 05. I figured about $300 of the port package is actually useful stuff (floor mats, cargo net, etc.) and I'm getting $300 back from Toyota. That means I'm stuck with about a $330 "popular car mark up". Toyota could easily up the 2005 MSRP by that much. If you don't want a #9 I suggest you call some rural area dealers. Marshall Texas has a waiting list but they all want #9's. He called me last week to see if I wanted it and I passed it to a friend at work who just picked up a #4 white from him at MSRP. It didn't even have the port package!
