After a short trip this morning in a temperature of -2C. (29F) the seat belt on the passenger side would not release. Highly embarrassing as passenger couldn't easily get out and we had to struggle to get the belt up and over. I came home and after 15 minutes of pushing, shoving and hammering it came out suddenly. Anyone else experienced this? Is there a remedy?
It certainly shouldn't have frozen at -2 degrees C. Could something have gotten into the latch and blocked it? I would sure take it in and have it looked at or replaced, if it won't release it might not hold correctly either.

Yes, good idea, I think something small might have got in and caused this, but I didn't see anything when it eventually released. I'll wait to see if it happens again before having it examined by dealer.

Picture someone in your family trapped in the seat after a wreck as smoke begins to billow out from under the hood.
