    I've got no problem with that, as long as they don't waste it (which is a different can of worms). Toyota gets plenty of love from the Japanese gov't.

    250 million is barely a drop in the bucket. put a few billion into it and then you might get somewhere

    I agree... a few years ago it was 14 million total for alternative energy R&D
    $250M is a step in the right direction, but it's little and it's late considering all the billions (trillions) being wasted in the war.

    I'd bet dollars to donuts that congress is 'urged' by their favorite auto loby ... you know who ... because THEY are too cheep / lazy to research PHEV's on their own volition, as toyota has done.

    You sure those funds would not go into helping pay for their Dividend payment? You know? Similar to what Clinton gave the big 3?
