When I got my car it had no owners manual (which I have since found on Ebay) or service manual. Can someone tell me the change interval for the ICE and inverter coolants? I don't know if this car has the 10 year coolant. Thanks in advance
The original coolants in 2001 Prius were Toyota LLC "red", with recommended 30k mile change intervals. DIY note: please be aware that replacing the inverter coolant involves some tricky air-bleeding, or so I have read. I also have the 2001 Prius and intend to have it switched to Toyota SLLC "pink" (with 50k mile change interval) in both loops next time around. No one has spoken up forcefully that this would be an inappropriate change, and even one of the classic Prius TSBs suggests that the coolant changeover happened before the model change. I would like to suggest that no coolants other than these two be considered for Prius use, and that we should not be talking about "10 years" here yet.
Man, I want to say that I've downloaded the maintenance log publication as a PDF from somewhere, but it's been so long that I can't remember if I really had done so. Let me do some looking... UPDATE: Okay, here's what I found. I remember printing the pages from "John1701's super-freakin-awesome site": 2001 Scheduled Maintenance Log 2004 Scheduled Maintenance Log Toyota also has these pages online, although I couldn't find all of it in a single PDF file...
