My 2010 Prius package was bought in 9/09.
Did my own oil change at 1,000 miles.
Have dealer did another oil change at 5k miles.(just to make sure Dealer will have service record that oil was changed)
Did another oil change myself at 10k.
Then have the dealer performed a 15k miles service and oil change.
Six months now. My prius have about 19,000 miles today, dealer called me this morning and said 20,000 mile service is due. I asked her what is 20,000 miles included. she said oil change, check all other fiulds and top it all off. Rotate all tires and etc..
I told her that we already have all those done 4,000 miles ago. and she said it is recommended to do it every 6 months.....

    Is this really true?

You should have an updated Toyota Warranty/Maintenance manual. Take a look at the Maintenance manual and it will list the requirements for each 5k service interval.

The Toyota recommended oil change interval for your 2010 using 0W20 synthetic oil is 10k miles or 1 year.

The odd 5K service, between the even 10k service intervals, should be a basic tire rotation, inspection and fluid check.
