we drove from the Sf bay area to LA (disneyland) only avg about 35mpg... reason being, we had 4 adults, cargo full of bags, and my friend drove around 95mph 85% of the way! (he got up to 105mph, but then the car felt it was gonna fall apart) only filled up 3 times, and the total cost was around $52 a lot better than my fx35, which cost $45 for gas after the first 240miles.
Nice to know! I'm doing a trip similar to that next weekend. OC to San Jose and back, but only 2 adults, and probably with 2 medium-sized duffels.
That is a lot of gas used. Of course at 95mph.. I drove cross country last year at 75mph and it cost me less than $150. It was around 3000 Miles.
