Hey there! New here, looking for help for a dear friend. He has a Prius 2010 and it’s been shaking upon acceleration for the last two days. I’ve also noticed a winding noise when he slows, which I never noticed before. We ride to work together every morning so I’m in the car 6 days a week for about an hour. There’s appx 209k miles on it, he just replaced spark plugs, sway bar and tires within the last month, quite a while before this all started. Any help or advice is graciously appreciated!! Bless you all!!!
I’ll also note that the battery seems almost full, one time it was low and it shook quite a bit worse. Hopefully this info helps point towards the culprit!!
Sounds like your engine is having head gasket problems the fire is getting put out and your battery may be original and it's getting on up there in years and mileage and these two things combined can wreak havoc on many folks's mind.
Clogged EGR passages in the intake manifold can cause rough running during moderate acceleration, or when the engine is charging the battery. Have they been cleaned yet? If not, at 209k, it's past time for that maintenance routine (which Toyota doesn't admit is needed).
