video of the prius rattle...need to decide by monday [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAad-9jZ2-k]YouTube - Why won't my prius start? engine rattle[/ame]
I think you need to pay much less. $2000. Much to fix. If you will not have enough $ to replace the airbags, do not buy it.
Any damage to the wheels/steering system? Check to see if the right front wheel is displaced (make sure its centered in the wheel well). If it is not completely centered, you may be looking at a grand for tie rods/control arms/knuckle/wheel and such... Why was the rear bumper replaced in a front end collision? Is there any frame damage? (since door wont close properly)? What you need is to have a mechanic that you can trust take a look and assess the damage.
I think the rear bumper itself will set you back a grand or so if you want to buy a new one and get it painted and such...
The bumper cover comes with the car...its in the guys garage with another set of tires and another and a coolant tank.
Do a Google search using the VIN number. Most insurance auctions are done online these days any a good many of these auction sites list VIN numbers.
So the car is mine--I took it to a mechanic to check out--appartly it did run when a different mechanic sprayed gas into the engine--would anyone out there offer a good repair manual--i dont believe this mechanic is 'priusperienced'--also would you be available for the occasional questioning regarding this process and would allow me to share your contact info with this mechanic please let me know...not sure what i am into yet...
In NJ it takes repairs that cost 75% of the car's market value to total a car although insurance will total at lower percentages. Off the top of my head I would guess the car was worth $18000-$20000. Good luck with the restoration. Plenty of good parts out there.
Jim's Cars You have or had an EV1? --- 220 mile range was that with NIMH? tell me bout the precept too.
