I've had what I think is quite a lucky day - been lusting over a Prius for months now, so yesterday I make an on-line inquiry to my preferred local dealer, and expect a response of long waits and zero inventory. Instead, I get a call from Piercy Toyota in Milpitas, CA - Internet Sales Dept. They have a Silver package #2, which is the exact vehicle I was interested in, and have a lease deal that has fallen apart. I'm down to the dealer within two hours - test drive the car (never been in a Prius before) - fall in love - and pay MSRP with no mark-ups at all. Within 30 minutes, other people who've been given the same heads up show up ready to buy, but I've beat them to it. I am kind of pinching myself because I think it's my lucky day - - - am I right? Is demand that great and supply that scarce?
